Humane Business exists to help organisations adopt AI in a way that empowers people, protects culture, and delivers measurable outcomes. We believe in human-first AI adoption: people first, processes second, technology third.
This policy explains how we use AI in our own operations and service delivery. We hold ourselves to the same standard we teach.
2. Our Philosophy
AI is a tool for amplification, not replacement.
We use AI to enhance human capability, not to substitute for human judgment, creativity, or relationship. Every AI application in our business is designed to give time back to people, improve quality of thinking, or reduce friction in delivery.
We reject the use of AI to:
Replace genuine human connection with clients
Automate decisions that require human wisdom and context
Generate content without human review and refinement
Process sensitive client data without appropriate safeguards
Create false impressions of human involvement
3. How We Use AI in Our Operations
Content and Communications
We use AI tools to assist with drafting, research, and content development. This includes blog posts, educational materials, marketing copy, and internal documentation.
Human oversight: All externally published content is reviewed, edited, and approved by a human before publication. AI assists; humans decide.
Research and Analysis
We use AI to synthesise information, identify patterns, and support strategic thinking. This helps us serve clients more effectively and stay current with developments in AI adoption.
Human oversight: AI-generated analysis informs human judgment. It does not replace it.
Administrative Tasks
We use AI to support scheduling, email drafting, meeting preparation, and documentation. This reduces administrative burden and allows us to focus on high-value client work.
Human oversight: Administrative AI use is reviewed for accuracy and appropriateness.
4. How We Use AI in Client Delivery
Programme Development
AI assists in curriculum design, resource creation, and programme refinement. Our methodologies are human-designed; AI helps us develop and deliver them more effectively.
Client Sessions and Consulting
During consulting engagements, we may use AI-assisted tools for:
Meeting transcription and note-taking (with client consent)
Research and preparation for client sessions
Documentation and deliverable development
What we do not do: We do not use AI to conduct client sessions, make strategic recommendations without human analysis, or share client data with AI systems beyond what is necessary and agreed.
Implementation Support
When helping clients adopt AI, we use AI tools ourselves to demonstrate effective practices, test workflows, and develop implementation assets.
5. Client Data and AI
We take the protection of client information seriously.
Data We Do Not Input to AI Systems
Confidential client business data without explicit consent
Personally identifiable information beyond what is necessary
Sensitive commercial information, trade secrets, or proprietary data
Information covered by non-disclosure agreements unless permitted
When We Use AI with Client Context
If we use AI tools that require client context (for example, preparing for a session or developing customised materials), we:
Use only the minimum information necessary
Prefer AI tools with appropriate data handling policies
Do not use free-tier consumer AI tools for confidential work
Inform clients when AI will be used in processing their information
Client Consent
For any AI processing beyond routine administrative support, we obtain appropriate consent as part of our client agreements. Clients may request that we limit or exclude AI from processing their data.
6. AI Tools We Use
We work with established AI platforms that maintain reasonable security and privacy standards. Our current tools include:
Large Language Models
ChatGPT (OpenAI) - thinking partnership, drafting, research
Claude (Anthropic) - long-form writing, synthesis, analysis
Gemini (Google) - additional perspective and comparison
Transcription and Meeting Support
Fathom - meeting recording and transcription (with participant consent)
Productivity and Automation
AI features within Notion, email platforms, and other business tools
We evaluate AI tools based on:
Data handling and privacy policies
Security certifications and practices
Suitability for business and client use
Alignment with our human-first principles
We do not use AI tools that retain or train on client data without appropriate controls.
7. Transparency
We believe in being clear about AI use.
With clients: We disclose when AI has been used in developing materials, conducting research, or supporting delivery. We do not present AI-generated work as purely human-created.
In our content: Published content that has been substantially developed with AI assistance is human-reviewed and reflects our genuine expertise and perspective. We do not use AI to generate opinions we do not hold or expertise we do not have.
In our marketing: We do not use AI to fabricate testimonials, case studies, or results. All claims are based on real outcomes.
8. Quality and Accuracy
AI systems can produce errors, hallucinations, and misleading outputs. We maintain human oversight to catch and correct these issues.
Our commitments:
AI-assisted work is reviewed by qualified humans before delivery
We verify factual claims rather than accepting AI outputs uncritically
We acknowledge when we are uncertain rather than relying on AI-generated confidence
We correct errors promptly when identified
9. Continuous Improvement
AI capabilities and best practices are evolving rapidly. We commit to:
Staying current with developments in AI safety and ethics
Updating our tools and practices as better options become available
Refining this policy as our understanding deepens
Listening to client feedback about our AI use
10. Your Rights
If you are a client or contact of Humane Business:
You may ask how AI has been used in work delivered to you
You may request that we limit AI use in processing your information
You may raise concerns about our AI practices at any time
We will respond to such requests promptly and in good faith.
11. Alignment with Our Services
We teach human-first AI adoption. This policy reflects that teaching.
The principles we apply to our own AI use—human oversight, appropriate safeguards, transparency, and continuous improvement—are the same principles we help our clients implement.
If we would not recommend a practice to our clients, we do not use it ourselves.
